Grand Theft Auto V Has Shipped 45 Million Copies!
During Take-Two Interactive’s investment call today, they revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has shipped 45 million copies since it launched in September 2013, and 10 million of these are from the PS4/XB1 versions which released in November 2014. That’s a lot of copies!
When you do the maths, 45 million copies at £50 a piece, that’s a whopping £2,250,000,000 (£2.25 billion). That however isn’t counting the Special and Collector’s Editions which retailed at a higher price for PS3 and Xbox 360. Although, in just 3 months the PS4/XB1 versions have earned £500,000,000 (£500 million) which is pretty incredible on its own. Taking into account that the 45 million is just copies which have shipped and not sold, the amount earned isn’t exact, but it’s definitely a rough estimate which shows an outstanding result for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive.
Rockstar still has the PC release for Grand Theft Auto V on March 24th, 2015. Exactly how many copies will ship and sell is unknown, although it’s definitely going to add onto a huge number which Rockstar Games has already achieved.
